Letter
Writer's Corner
So many people find
letter writing to be a real pain and too difficult to be bothered with.
But writing to government departments and elected officials is so very
important. Most of the issues we are faced with are caused by poor policies,
ingnorance of new problems, or louder voices coming from those who wish
to exploit the environment. Unless the powers-that-be hear from their
constituents, things will keep going the way they are and problems will
not be fixed.
So consider writing
a letter a month to voice your questions and concerns about issues. You
can make this a family affair by sitting down with your school age children
to write the letters. This will help educate them about what's happening
in their world and the power they have to help change it.
The pages in this
section describe issues which are relevant to frog conservation problems
and who needs to be contacted about these issues. When
you receive a reply, please photocopy it and post it to us at P.O. Box
2731, Cairns, FNQ 4870. We can advise you as to whether a follow up letter
is needed and what questions/arguments you might want to raise. (Follow
up letters are even more important than the first one since government
departments count on the average voter not having any 'staying power'.)
Thanks for your help.
